Luxury vinyl

Luxury vinyl is a multiple-layer floor covering expected to last 30 years or more. Waterproof brands are top quality; therefore, they have a thick transparent wear layer over the wood or tile image layer to protect it from stains and scratches.

Planks and tiles that repel water have a wood plastic composite (WPC) core or a stone plastic composite (SPC) core.

Engineered wood new floors

Engineered wood planks have a base composed of plywood layers positioned in different directions and a hardwood surface layer. So the look is the same as a solid hardwood floor, but the function is different.

Because of their makeup, planks resist moisture but keep in mind that water and spills should be cleaned up immediately to avoid damage.

Installation

While you can find luxury vinyl flooring designed for glue-down installation, most tiles and planks, like engineered wood planks, are designed to float above the subfloor.

In other words, floating floors are constructed with click-lock planks and tiles, so they need no attachment to the surface beneath them. Thus, new floors are installed over existing floors and concrete.
